Presentation Works is based in the wonderfully named Cambridgeshire village of Six Mile Bottom, close to Cambridge in the UK.

Despite its splendid rural location the village is within very easy access of civilisation – both the M11 (Junction 9) and the main railway line are no more than 10 minutes away. London lies within very comfortable reach. Headquarters are in a converted barn.

Founded in 2002 the business exists with one principal aim: to allow people (presenters, speakers, trainers, networkers, directors, managers, teachers ..) to feel happy and comfortable on their feet. The emphasis of the training side of the business is very much on the practical things that can be learned and practiced to allow every speaker to become effective and memorable.

At the heart of things, therefore, lies a long time fascination with what makes and keeps audiences happy. Whether those audiences are seated in a hotel foyer, an airport lounge, a company’s boardroom or a purpose-built auditorium; each event is in essence a presentation, a performance if you like, requiring both speaker and audience to give of their best.

The digital side of the business is where everything from simple, effective presentations to full multimedia slideshows or DVDs are produced, entirely in house. Working on the basis that everything in the digital world will work together, given a sufficient number of hours of effort, Presentation Works is happy to help out individuals and businesses with any form of audio visual aid they require. Often this is for an event or in support of the sales function but often too this may be informative or to support a product or service.

Colin McLean is the founder and sole Director. His own background is suitably muddled – having left university (a modern linguist) and fallen into publishing for a short spell he then got ensnared by the City (reinsurance) for 18 years before he was able to extract himself. Several years followed, as a director of new media businesses, riding the shallower end of the dot com wave, before he located himself in Cambridgeshire and set up Presentation Works.

Outside the business he can be found reading, writing, acting, directing, fishing, immersed in music, walking the dogs, and attending to parental and family duties.
